APIIT/UCTI Chess Competition 2008

Pleased to inform that the APIIT/UCTI Chess Competition 2008 is going on soon!

We’re looking for college representative for the coming MAPCU Chess Competition. Everyone in APIIT/UCTI is encouraged to join this competition.

The registration date will be valid from 1st April to 10th April. Registration fee is RM3.00 per person.

The actual competition date will be on 12th April and 19th April. It will be held in APIIT TPM.

KL Open (Group B) Chinese Chess Tournament 2007

June 26th, 2007

Date : 8 & 15 July 2007 (Sunday)

Time : 11:00 am (8/7/2007) & 2:00 pm (15/7/2007)

Venue: KL Xiangqi Association (Sri Petaling)

There will a charge of RM5 to participate.

MAPCU-IMU Inter-College / Varsity (Team) Chess / Chinese Chess Tournament 2007 Result

After the great effort of every players, APIIT managed to become the 1st runner up in the Chinese Chess tournament and won the 5th place in the Chess tournament. In the addition, one of our players, Looi Ferng Yi also won the board prize in the Chinese Chess event. Below are the results of these two events:

Sports Carnival 2007

In conjunction with APIIT’s Sports Carnival, Chess Club is holding its Chess Competition on 12th May 2007. The venue for the competition is APIIT Smart School.

MAPCU-IMU Inter-College / Varsity (Team) Chinese Chess Tournament 2007

Dear all,

Please be informed that the annual MAPCU –IMU Inter-College (Team) Chinese Chess tournament 2007 organized by the International Medical University (IMU) is back. The tournament details are as follow:

Date: 5th May 2007
Registration Time: 8.00am - 9.00am
Venue: Multi Purpose Hall 6
Attire: Smart Casual

ONE (1) team comprise of minimum THREE (3) players, regardless of gender. For each team, ONE (1) reserve is allowed. The scores of each team will be accumulated from Round 1 to Round 6 and the team with the highest overall score will emerge as the winner of the tournament.

The tournament will be based on Asian Chinese chess rules and will be played on a swiss format. For more information, please refer to www.clubxiangqi.com/rules/asiarule.htm. for further details

There will be SIX (6) rounds, and the time control is 30 Minutes for each player until finish.

ONE (1) team comprise of minimum FOUR (4) players, THREE (3) Male and ONE (1) Female. Each team must have a female player on the 4th Board in each round. For each team, 2 reserves are allowed, with ONE (1) Male and One (1) Female. The scores of each team will be accumulated from Round 1 to Round 6 and the team with the highest overall score will emerge as the winner of the tournament.

The tournament will be held based on FIDE laws of Chess and played on Swiss format. There will be SIX (6) rounds, and the time control is 30 Minutes for each player until finish.

Chess Club Weekly Challenge - Rules & Regulations

February 28th, 2007

1. Challenges can be made every week to the current Title Holder.

2. There can be up to a maximum number of 3 challengers to challenge the Title Holder every week. If the challengers failed to defeat the Title Holder, they can only challenge the Title Holder after TWO (2) weeks.

3. As the number of challengers is limited, only those that had informed the related Committee Members, the Club Advisor (Mr. Saw Looi Beng) are recognized. IF there is (or are) challengers that failed to show up, OR there are still seats available, other players ARE allowed to become challengers BASED ON “First Come, First Serve” basis. Late comers will not be entertained.

4. Each game should be approximately ONE (1) hour.

5. Each game is applied to the International Chess Regulation, for example touch move.

6. The name of the Title Holder will be updated EVERY (1) week. If the Challenger managed to defeat the Title Holder, the Challenger will be the next Title Holder, and any future challenges will be referred to him/her.

7. If the Title Holder fails to show up for the following week, the THREE (3) challengers will compete with each other and the winner will be titled as the Title Holder.

8. Final decision will be declared by the arbiter.

Chess Club Weekly Challenge

Howdy Everyone In APIIT,

Our very own Chess Club in APIIT has this Weekly Challenge event starting from 2nd March 2007. This is how the event works:

Every week, we will post the name of the Winner of the Week in Chess during our weekly activity on Fridays. Other interested players can challenge the Winner of the Week on the following week. If the challenger succeeds in defeating our current Winner of the Week in Chess, his/her name will be posted as the Winner of the Week.
